It’s not about protecting anyone, It’s about tracking everyone.

There’s been a lot of talk about discord, persona, and age verification. A lot of States and countries are pushing for age verification on the web. requiring the upload of a state ID or drivers license to access a web site.  Texas was the 1st in the united states. followed by few other states. The UK went as far as requiring face scans. (the results are a whole other post)  Colorado is going as far as considering age verification for operating systems. Meaning that any new computer, or any computer old computer getting new operating system would have to go through an age verification process. there are some BIG problems with this age verification.

Starting with the Justification/fear mongering for pushing for age verification on anything. This doesn’t really protect the kids. Parents paying attention to their own kids is what protects kids.  There is nothing that comes close to a watchful parent when it

comes to keeping kids safe.  It goes beyond just stopping kids from getting something, It’s also teaching them. “this is something that requires maturity”.

I know someone going to complain that it’s too time consuming and it’s easier to just let the politicians handle it. whine that “you can’t look over their shoulder every time the google or type a URL.”  So don’t take 20 minutes. get the name of the kids computer, login into the router. (95% of us house holds have them if they have wifi) And set up “parenteral controls” ” black list rules” per computer. are there ways around it? yes. same ones as the photo id laws. But that’s my point, Age verification laws don’t work. short of attentive parents There’s nothing else is keeping kids safe on the Internet.. So why bother Ineffectual law.

There is a reason, the other big problem Age verification laws. The companies that are handling the age verification. It’s literally become another point to mine on people using the Internet. Scanning your face is data for facial recognition. Meaning you walk by a cctv camera and you can be IDed. Tracked in real time. The people doing the tracking is not limited to the government. Now uploading a scan of the drivers license would give them a license number a date of birth Your full name your address your sex your height your weight your eye color, and that may vary from state to state Some drivers license even have blood type on them. And who knows how this is being used against you.

There’s anything I want readers to take away from this is data being gathered on them Is being used against them. There is no upside to the average person having all of this data collected on them.

And before you go dismissing me as paranoid, A lot of the tech Bros have openly admitted that they are actively trying to build surveillance networks. Ring advertised the equivalent of a digital dragnet at the Super Bowl. The founder of Ring Jamie Simioff Has been up about building a surveillance network with the intention of driving theft and crime to zero. Peter Thiel the founder of Planeteer, In Persona has been actively bragging about how successful he’s been at building a surveillance system.
